Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, whose capital is located in Delingha City, is one of the eight prefecture-level administrative regions of Qinghai Province. Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is a thoroughland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with Tibet in the south, Gansu in the north and Xinjiang in the west. It is located at the center of the intersection of Qinghai, Gansu, Xinjiang and Tibet. It was once a side road of the ancient "Silk Road" leading to the Western Regions. Lanzila optical cable, Qingxin optical cable, Tibet 750 kV AC-DC network lines run through the territory, Golmud-Lhasa refined oil pipeline and Shibuninlan gas pipeline are distributed in the territory, Qinghai-Tibet Railway and National Highway 109 and 315 lines run through the territory, and are connected with National Highway 215, the Western Major Corridor and provincial and state highways. It is a strategic support point connecting Tibet, Xinjiang and Gansu and a transportation hub in the hinterland of the western part of the motherland.
In 2019, the GDP of the prefecture reached 66.611 billion yuan, up 7.5 percent year on year. In 2020, the regional GDP of Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture reached 61.981 billion yuan, down 2.1 percent from 2019.
