Chuzhou City, referred to as Chuzhou in ancient times as Tuzhong, Qingliu and Xinchang, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province and a city in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta. It is located in the easternmost part of Anhui Province, with Nanjing in the east, Hefei in the west, Huaihe River in the north and Yangtze River in the south. It is located in the plain of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the hilly area between Jianghuai and Huaihe Rivers. With an area of 13,433 square kilometers, Chuzhou has jurisdiction over 2 districts, 4 counties and 2 county-level cities by 2021. By the end of 2021, the population of Chuzhou was 3.99 million.

Chuzhou, named after Chuhe River, is 115 km away from Hefei in the west and 50 km away from Nanjing in the east. It is the central city of Nanjing Metropolitan Circle and Hefei Economic Circle respectively. Chuzhou is an important transportation center in East China. Beijing-shanghai Railway, Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway and Shanghai-Hangrong high-speed Railway have stations in the city. 11 expressways, 5 national roads and many provincial roads criss-cross the city border. Chuzhou branch river port can reach the river to the sea.

Chuzhou was the capital of the six Dynasties and was known as "Jinling Key and Jianghuai guarantee" since ancient times. Zhu Yuanzhang, the Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, set up his army in Fengyang and built a magnificent middle capital and imperial mausoleum here. The Drunkster Pavilion by Ouyang Xiu in the Song Dynasty and the Scholar's History of the Confucian Scholars by Wu Jingzi, a brilliant scholar of the whole Sichuan Province, became famous works in Chuzhou. There are Langya Mountain Forest Park, Huangfu Mountain Forest Park, Chishan Lake wetland Park and other scenic spots.

In 2021, the GDP of Chuzhou City reached 336.21 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 9.9% based on comparable prices. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 28.79 billion yuan, the secondary industry 164.48 billion yuan and the tertiary industry 142.94 billion yuan. Based on the permanent resident population, the per capita GDP was 84,263 yuan.
