Guiyang City, abbreviated as "Zhu", also known as Forest City and Zhucheng, is a prefecture-level city and provincial capital of Guizhou Province. It is one of the important central cities in southwest China, an important regional innovation center and an important ecological leisure and tourism city in China. It is located in the middle of the original hills of the central Guizhou mountains, bordered by Weng 'an, Longli, Huishui and Changshun in the southeast, Pingba District of Anshun and Zhijin County of Bijie in the west, and Qianxi City, Jinsha County of Bijie City and Bozhou District of Zunyi City in the north. Guiyang was originally a frontier ethnic area, from the Spring and Autumn period to the early Han Dynasty, Guiyang area belongs to the ancient Yelang. Dwring the Han Dynasty, Guiyang was originally the area under the jurisdiction of Zangke County and Guiyang Prefecture in Ming Dynasty. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Guiyang County was established. In the fourth year of the Republic of China (1915), Guiyang County was abolished in the 30th year of the Republic of China (1941), Guiyang City and its suburbs were established. Within the territory of mountains, rivers, canyons, lakes, karst, caves, waterfalls, primitive forests, cultural, ancient city pavilions and other 32 kinds of tourist attractions.

Guiyang City is the political, economic, cultural, scientific and educational, transportation center of Guizhou Province, as well as an important transportation and communication hub, industrial base and trade and tourism service center in Southwest China. It is the national big data industry development cluster area and the core area of the national big data comprehensive experimental area. Guiyang is the first national forest city, the national pilot city of circular economy, the comprehensive railway hub of China, the Summer Vacation Capital of China, and once ranked the first place of "Top Ten Summer Tourism Cities in China".

In 2022, Guiyang achieved a gross regional product of 492.117 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 2.0%.
