Hanzhong City, referred to as "Han", is a prefection-level city under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province. It is located in the southwest of Shanxi Province, bordered by Baoji City and Xi 'an City in the north, Ankang City in the east, Guangyuan City, Bazhong City and Dazhou City in Sichuan Province in the south, and Longnan City in Gansu Province in the west. It covers an area of 27246 square kilometers and is located in the inland East Asian monsoon climate zone with mild and humid climate. The average annual temperature is about 14.5℃. As of October 2022, Hanzhong Municipality has jurisdiction over 2 districts, 9 counties and 5 economic functional zones. Hanzhong City people's government resident Hantai District. Hanzhong City, because of the "Han River" flowing through here, has been known as "Tian Han", "birthplace of Han family", "Chinese Cornucopia", "Land of abundance" since ancient times. Since ancient times, it has been "the land of battle" and "the important place of travel and trade". It is known as the "throat of Qin" and the "gateway of Shu" since ancient times. It is also known as the "hometown of the global Han people". Paleolithic Age, there are ancestors in this habitat. The summer solstice in the West Zhou, has been Liangzhou, Yongzhou. In the thirteenth year of Qin Gengyuan (312 BC), Hanzhong County was set up. In the tenth year of Taikang (289), the State of Han was renamed. Ming Hongwu three years (1370), changed the Hanzhong Mansion. On December 6, 1949, it was renamed Hanzhong Sub-district of Shanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region. In January 1969, Hanzhong District was set up. On February 21, 1996, it was renamed Hanzhong City. Hanzhong has a convenient transportation network consisting of highway, railway and air. There are many tourist attractions in Hanzhong, including Wuzi Mountain Scenic spot, Huayang Scenic spot, Zibai Mountain Scenic spot, Liping Scenic spot, Crested ibis Liyuan Scenic spot, Shimen Plank Road Scenic spot and other national AAAA tourist spots. In January 1994, Hanzhong was listed in the third batch of national historical and cultural cities by The State Council. In November 2007, Hanzhong was named China's Outstanding Tourism City by the National Tourism Administration.

In 2021, the GDP of Hanzhong was 176.872 billion yuan, and the per capita disposable income of residents was 23,915 yuan.
