Shiyan, also known as Car City, is a prefectural city in Hubei Province. It is known as the Truck Capital of China. Wudang Mountain, Hanjiang River and Car City are three world-class name cards of Shiyan. Shiyan is located in central China, the northwest of Hubei Province, the middle and upper reaches of the Han River, the Hanshui Valley of the Qinling-Ba Mountains, the Qinling Mountains in the north, the Bashan Mountains and the Han River in the south, and the Wudang Mountains across the whole territory. Shiyan is a regional central city at the intersection of Hubei, Henan, Shaanxi and Chongqing, the core city of western Hubei ecological culture tourism circle, one of the three central cities of the Qinling-ba Mountains, with a total area of 23680 square kilometers. Shiyan's unique geographical location has made it known since ancient times as "Jingxiang in the south, Shangluo in the north, Nanyang in the east and Hanzhong in the west", and as "the South ship and the north horse, the throat of Sichuan and Shaanxi, the thoroughgoing area of four provinces".

Shiyan is the location of Danjiangkou Reservoir, the source and core water source of the Middle Route of the South-North Water Diversion Project. It is known as the "big well" in the north. It is also the location of Wudang Mountain, the famous Taoist holy site of the World cultural heritage, and the headquarters of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., LTD. Shiyan is "the first in China and the top three in the world" commercial vehicle production base, with 100 billion level of manufacturing stock assets and annual production capacity of 1 million vehicles. Shiyan was built and prospers because of cars. It is the "Yan 'an" of Dongfeng Motor, the highland of modern manufacturing industry and the cradle of modern national industry.

As of 2021, Shiyan has a permanent population of 3.209 million. Shiyan has a long history. One million years ago, there were ancient humans here. The discovery of "Yunxian man" changed the origin of human beings. Shiyan is named after six weirs of Shending River and four weirs of Xianghe River in Huanglong District, Yunyang Prefecture, using water sources. Shiyan has been awarded the honorary titles of National Civilized City, National Health City, National Livable City, National Garden City, National Forest City, etc.
In 2021, Shiyan achieved a gross regional product of 216.398 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 11.5%. At the end of the year, the city's permanent resident population was 3.1582 million.
