Anqing City, referred to as "Yi" for short, is a prefectual-level city under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province, located in the southwest of Anhui Province, on the north bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, adjacent to Huanggang City of Hubei Province in the west, Jiujiang City of Jiangxi Province in the south, Hefei City and Lu 'an City in the north, Zhongyang County of Tongling City in the east, and Chizhou City across the river in the south, between 29°47 '-- 31°16' north and 115°45 '-- 117°44' east. North subtropical humid climate, the total area of the city 13589.99 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 3 districts, 5 counties and 2 county-level cities.

Anqing is the central city of Yangtze River Delta, the national Garden City, the national Forest City, the National Demonstration Area of Ecological civilization construction, the Chinese Excellent Tourism City, the Top Ten Beautiful Cities, the National Green Model City, and the National Civilized City. It is the key city of the Yangtze River Delta region, the key city of the linkage between the Yangtze River Delta and the central region, and the node city of Wanjiang City Belt to undertake industrial transfer demonstration zone.

Anqing is a national-level historical and cultural city, known as the "State of culture", "Hometown of drama", "Sacred Land of Zen" reputation, is the hometown of "Tongcheng School", the birthplace of Huangmei Opera, the cradle of the growth of Hui Troupe, the ancestor of Peking Opera, and the hometown of Chen Duxiu, Deng Jiaxian, Zhang Henshui and other famous people. Anqing was one of the earliest cities in China to accept modern civilization. In 1861, in the eleventh year of Xianfeng of Qing Dynasty, Zeng Guofan established Anqing Internal Ordnance Institute, which produced China's first steam engine and first motor ship.

By the end of 2021, Anqing has a permanent population of 4,171,000. In 2021, Anqing achieved regional gross domestic product (GDP) of 265.688 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry was 25.316 billion yuan, the secondary industry 116.236 billion yuan and the tertiary industry 124.136 billion yuan. The tertiary industrial structure is 9.5:43.8:46.7. Based on the permanent population, the per capita GDP was 63,707 yuan.
