Ankang City, a prefectural city under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province, is located in the southeast of Shanxi Province, bordering on Shiyan City of Hubei Province in the east, adjacent to Shiyan City of Hubei Province in the southeast, Chongqing City in the south, Chongqing City in the southwest, Dazhou City of Sichuan Province, Hanzhong City in the west, Hanzhong City and Xi 'an in the northwest, Xi 'an City in the north, and Shangluo City in the northeast, with an area of 23500 square kilometers. In 1969, it was renamed Ankang District. In December 2000, Ankang City was established. Ankang has a convenient transportation network consisting of highway, railway, air and water transportation. Ankang has many tourist attractions, including Zhongba Grand Canyon Scenic spot, Hanjiang Shiquan Ancient City Scenic spot, Yanxiang Cave Scenic spot, Guiguling Scenic spot, Tianbao Ticai Agricultural Garden Scenic spot and other national AAAA tourist spots. Ankang was named a National Forest city by the State Forestry Administration on Oct 10, 2017.
