Shanxi Province, abbreviated as "Shanxi" or "Qin", is a provincial administrative region of the People's Republic of China with its capital Xi 'an. It is located in the hinterland of China, in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, bordering Shanxi and Henan in the east, Ningxia and Gansu in the west, Sichuan, Chongqing and Hubei in the south, and Inner Mongolia in the north, between 105°29 '-- 111°15' east longitude and 31°42 '-- 39°35' north latitude. The total area is 205624.3 square kilometers. As of November 2022, Shanxi Province has jurisdiction over 10 prefecture-level cities (of which the provincial capital Xi 'an is a vice-provincial city), 31 municipal districts, 7 county-level cities and 69 counties.

Shanxi Province is one of the important birthplace of the Chinese nation and Chinese culture. Fourteen governments, including Western Zhou Dynasty, Qin Dynasty, Han Dynasty and Tang Dynasty, established their capitals in Shanxi Province. It is the location of the earth origin of China's longitude and latitude reference point and the national timing Center of Beijing Time.
