Jiangxi Province, referred to as Gan for short, got its name from the establishment of the West Road of Jiangnan by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty in 733, and from the Ganjiang River, the largest river in Jiangxi. Nanchang, the provincial capital, is located in southeast China, on the south bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, between latitude 24°29 '14 "to 30°04' 43" north and longitude 113°34 '18 "to 118°28' 56" east. It is adjacent to Zhejiang and Fujian in the east, Guangdong in the south, Hunan in the west and Hubei and Anhui in the north. The annual gross regional product (GDP) in 2020 was 2,569.15 billion yuan, and that in 2021 was 2,961.97 billion yuan. By the end of 2021, Jiangxi's permanent population was 45.174 million.
